Visited MACKAY Canelands restaurant, 12/12/23, asked if the girl if they do half serves, after asking the kitchen she said, yes and it will be half price. I thought this wonderful!! Order was ready super quick and was delicious! Based on that I went back the next day, had a different girl serve me and asked for the same again, she said, no, we don’t do that! I said, but I had a half serve yesterday. So she asked someone else, she then said we can’t but we can give you a half serve but you’ll have to pay the full price…. WTF?!! Absolutely ridiculous!! I questioned it again…she said, I don’t make the decisions. I said, who does, she said the owner. So I asked to speak to him. He said NO, we don’t do half serves here but I said you did yesterday, he said well they shouldn’t have. I explain to him, in front of other customers, that I physically cant eat a full meal, as I’ve had weightloss surgery and thought I’d finally found a place that accommodated. He still wouldn’t agreed! I said you’re going to lose a customer over half a meal?! He didn’t care at all!! It was so embarrassing to have to publicly explain my situation. What harm would it do to his business?! I would’ve told so many ppl and ppl with weightless to go there, it would’ve generated business! I would’ve even(and have elsewhere) paid slightly more than half. It’s so very hard to find a place to eat when you’ve had weightloss surgery(WLS)when you do, you stick with it. With SO many having WLS these days, businesses need to be more flexible, they need to be more sensitive to the needs of their customers! What if someone was allergic to something, would they remove it or say NO, that just the way it is!! For WLS ppl basically the only option is the entree or kids menu and then some will say no, because you’re not a child. Does the customer matter at all or is it solely about money?!!!!! I was so upset, annoyed and embarrassed by LAFFOS, I walked out in tears. Your food is lovely, your restaurant is lovely but your compassion is non existent! I’ll never step back in your restaurant and I’ll make sure ppl know my experience! Do better, be better, have a heart!!
