Charles Street Plaza is a shopping and entertainment center in the center of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. It is located just off Rundle Mall, with direct access to David Jones and the Wilson car park station. Charles Street Plaza offers an eclectic mix of retail goods and services including cafes, noodles, dumplings, beauty, sustainable and natural products, tailoring, giftware, physiotherapy and women’s hairdressing. Charles Street Plaza was originally part of Charles Place, a complex of buildings that included a hotel, offices and shops. Charles Place was built in the 1960s and 1970s as part of the redevelopment of Rundle Mall and the surrounding area. Charles Place was named after Sir Charles Todd, a prominent figure in South Australian history who was responsible for establishing the telegraph and meteorological services in the colony. In 2007, Charles Place was sold to Peregrine Corporation for 45 million dollars and was rebranded as Charles Street Plaza. The plaza underwent a major renovation in 2018 and 2019, which included new signage, lighting, flooring and painting.
